Leave With The Night
There’s a reason to be wary, used to know and forgot
Or maybe pawned it in a city, whose lights
Do not care if you’re a villain, but do not care if you’re alone
And I just want to go home
You stop when they’re in your palm, you go when the table’s hot
You sneak when it gets dark
You say, what’s the point of breaking even?
Well it’s better than your bed, alone
You leave with the night again
You’re leaving with the night
After night, frustrated me
Night after night, tantalized me
Night after night, drove me crazy
Night after night, til it came true
There’s a reason to be guarded, used to know then I laughed
Heard it echo in a city, whose roads
Do not care where you’re headed, but do not care if it is home
And you don’t want to be alone
You stop when they’re in your palm, you go when the table’s hot
You sneak when it gets dark
You say, what’s the point of breaking even?
Well it’s better than your bed, alone
You leave with the night again
Night after night, they lose what they earned
But you know they could have success
The devil’s in the details
Tulips performed live at This Ain’t Hollywood at The Arkells secret show (February 17th, 2013).
“Whichever Way You’ll Have It” performed at the Family Day Show at This Ain’t Hollywood w/ The Arkells. Thanks to David McEachern for the footage!
Surprise Arkells Show.
We just wanted to say “Thank You” to everyone who came to the show, to Lou and Heather for putting it together, and to everyone who works at This Ain’t Hollywood. We know we’re far from “making it” but on nights like these we feel like god damn rock stars thanks to the response we get from the audience. So again, thank you for making this Family Day so special. Of course we want to thank Arkells for putting us on the bill, we’ve always been huge fans of theirs so playing with them was like a dream. Lastly, we want to thank alcohol for sponsoring the evening and making it a hazy night full of weird choices (such as Pat riding Evan’s shoulders without a shirt on).
Thank you,
Evan and New Hands
We know there are going to be a million great quality photos floating around the internet soon so we decided to share our lo-fi, nonsensical take on the night. Don’t judge the blurriness, alcohol was involved.
For Pat’s birthday back in January we iced him and discussed his future on the flying cooking show “Chop Gun”.

Day 11! For your listening pleasure, here is a delightful soundboard recording of ‘Tulips’ from our set at This Ain’t Hollywood for the Sonic Unyon Christmas Party. If you’d like to hear it in the flesh, make sure to come see us perform alongside Young Empires, Decades and ColeCo for the New Years Eve event of the century!
For Day 10 we have a little studio video/picture package. We had quite the interesting day in the studio, cabin fever set in as we tried to force ourselves to work and by that I mean we all laid on the couch while Ben sprinted all over the room to make a record. Ben seems to think the reason we’ve gone insane is due to us mimicking the songs we work on so I guess that means this new song of ours is… insane.
Here is a short piano part from our newest unnamed song. Sounding really great so far and we couldn’t be more excited to show you guys. Some more photos to come!
